New York in the 1970s. Trevor Edwards is a successful lawyer who just recently broke things off with his fiancée. One night, Trevor realizes that he lost important documents pertaining to a client, and he can't find them anywhere. Just as he's ready to accept defeat and the end of his career, salvation arrives in the form of Gene—a young cleaner who works in the same building as Trevor's lawyer firm—who saw him drop the papers on his way out. After returning them, Trevor discovers that Gene is homeless and invites him to stay at his house to escape the cold winter night. But is that enough to repay the man who saved him?
